The University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM (UEL), Hanoi Law University (HLU), and Hue University of Law (HUL) will jointly organize an international hybrid conference entitled "Environmental Protection and Climate Change Policies and Law 2023: International and National Legislation Reaching Net-Zero Emissions - the Perspective of Developing Countries''.

The conference aims to provide a platform and open dialogue for scholars, researchers, policymakers, lawyers, other interested parties to discuss and share their research, ideas, recommendations for policies, and legal framework towards the goal of achieving net-zero emissions in the context of Vietnam and other developing countries lacking experience in selecting and implementing appropriate policies, and the shortage of finance for combating this phenomenon.

We welcome submissions on a broad range of topics related to environmental protection and climate policies and law, including but not limited to:

- Climate Change and Human Rights, Gender;

- Multilateral Environmental Agreements: Effectiveness, Impacts and Structural Challenges;

- International and National Climate Litigation;

- Governing Climate Change: Legislation, Regulation and Rule of Law;

- Climate Change and The Law of The Sea;

- Climate Change and International Trade and Investment Law;

- Tort Law and Climate Change Mitigation;

- Environmental and Climate Justice;

- States’ Extraterritorial Jurisdiction to Regulate and/or to Enforce Climate Change Policies and Law;

- The Rules on Renewable Energy and Emissions Trading;

- Legal Perspectives on Climate Neutrality, Green Economy and Sustainable Growth;

- Legal Perspectives on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation & Forest Degradation (REDD+) and Blue Carbon;

- Other related topics.

The timeline is anticipated as follows:

- Deadline for submission of abstract: 22 June 2023;

- Invitation to submit full manuscripts: 07 July 2023;

- Deadline for submission of full manuscripts: 22 September 2023;

- Conference date: 01 December 2023 (to be confirmed).
